The Opportunity:

HKA has developed a network of over 400 expert witnesses working as independent consultants covering a broad spectrum of engineering and technical matters. We are looking to continue this development and have excellent opportunities for highly experienced technical experts to join this network. Your work would be undertaken remotely on an ‘as and when’ basis under a sub-consultancy agreement, thus allowing you to continue with your own commitments and projects.

We are currently looking to engage with individuals who possess knowledge related to the design, construction, commissioning and operation of hard rock underground mines, ideally including all relevant disciplines such as:

• Mine planning / design / long term development
• Determination of mining method
• Tunnelling / boring
• Shaft sinking
• Ground support
• Equipment selection / operation
• Drilling rig design / planning
• Blast pattern design
• Materials handling / hauling (ore removal)
• Backfilling, ventilation, water ingress / egress management

Qualifications and Experience:

Ideally you possess the following skills and experience:

• Minimum of 20 years’ experience in the field
• BA, MSc, or EngD / PhD level
• Professional qualification in a relevant discipline
• Experience in writing reports

Advantageous to have:

• Expert witness experience
• Experience working internationally
• Member or Fellow of a relevant institution
• Chartered status
